Community Guidelines
Marnita exists to help you connect with people who care about restaurants and food, surface content that helps you decide where to eat, and host conversations that stay useful and civil. These guidelines help keep that experience positive for everyone.
Please follow the rules below. Breaking them may lead to removal of posts or comments, temporary suspension, or a permanent ban.
What we encourage
- Join discussions that match the topic—reviews, forums, and local threads should stay about the food, the place, or the question at hand.
- Challenge ideas, not people. You can disagree without insulting someone’s character or background.
- Add something useful: context, details, or a fair question. One-off rants or pile-ons aren’t helpful.
- Assume good faith unless someone clearly shows otherwise. A little patience goes a long way.
- Choose a username that won’t confuse or offend others. We may rename or remove accounts that don’t meet this bar.
- Protect your own privacy and others’—avoid posting phone numbers, work details, or other sensitive info in public.
- Skim your message before you send it—clear writing makes moderation and replies easier for everyone.
- When something crosses the line, use the report tools on posts or comments so our team can review it.
What we don’t allow
- Intimidation, slurs, hate speech, harassment, or discrimination based on race, religion, gender, identity, disability, or other protected traits.
- Personal attacks, bullying, stalking, or repeated targeting of a reviewer, business owner, or staff.
- Graphic profanity or explicit sexual content. Keep language suitable for a food-focused, public community.
- Spam, copy-paste floods, or repetitive posts that drown out real conversation. Comments may be moderated before they appear—please don’t spam while you wait.
- Unsolicited links, scraped content, or material you don’t have rights to share. Cite sources when you’re making factual claims; random social posts aren’t a substitute.
- Advertising, affiliate links, or constant promotion of products or services unrelated to the discussion.
- Impersonating a person, brand, or business. Don’t spread false claims you can’t support.
- Doxxing or sharing someone else’s private details (addresses, emails, phone numbers, employer info, etc.).
- Content that could create legal risk for you or others—defamation, contempt of court, or topics that belong with a lawyer, not a public thread.
- Calls for violence, illegal activity, or instructions that could harm people or property.
- Graphic violence, sexual content, or other material that isn’t appropriate for a general dining platform.
Moderation
We may remove content, limit accounts, or ban users when we believe it’s necessary to protect the community or comply with the law. We don’t guarantee that every post or edit will stay visible or unchanged after review.
Reviews, photos, and forums
Share your real experience—firsthand when you’re reviewing a place. Don’t post fake reviews, manipulate ratings, or review your own business. Use photos you took or have permission to use, tag menu items accurately, and respect people’s privacy in images. In forums, pick the right category, avoid duplicate threads when you can, and follow moderator guidance.
Above all: treat others the way you’d want to be treated in a busy restaurant or a neighbor’s kitchen—respectful, inclusive, and focused on good food and honest conversation.
